For the second time in Armenia Digicode competition has been held. Compared with the first contest this time the tasks were more complicated, so only 40 participants from different regions of Armenia competed in the final.
It should be noted that in the framework of DigiCode, Armenian schoolchildren work in the "Scratch" programming environment and upload the creqted games at Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s (MIT) website. Scratch is a graphical programming environment developed by MIT, and Aghues is the Armenian-applied version of Scratch with upgraded modules that students of robotics and engineering group-labs also use when designing robots.
The contest develops algorithm thinking, creativity, musical taste, knowledge of foreign languages and communication skills among schoolchildren. This is also an exceptional opportunity when not only Armenian schoolchildren are interested in programming, but also schoolchildren from other countries, which helps to create joint games. The contest also reveals talented children and creates conditions for the creation of new companies in the future.
It should be noted that Dr. Boris Komrakov, the Chairman of the WITSA Education, Trainings and Human Resources Committee, was also present at the Digicode Contest. Competition. WITSA is a leading IT Alliance of over 80 countries that are members of the ICT Union. It is also the organizer of the World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT).
