The DigiCode Applied Programming Youth Annual Contest implemented by the Union of Information Technology Enterprises (UITE) with the support of Ucom, has been held on 11th of February in Gyumri Technology Center. The main goal of the contest is to encourage and develop the algorithmic thinking of schoolchildren, to turn the schoolchildren from game consumers to game makers, to discover the talented teens and give them the opportunity to develop their creative abilities.
40 schoolchildren out of 360 applicants, who have passed to the final stage, competed in groups of up to 13 years old and over 13 years old. They have been working in Scratch graphic programming environment developed by Massachusetts Technology University (MIT).
This year the "Armath Prize" nomination for both age groups has been first time defined. The winners of this nomination have been decided by the schoolchildren of "Armath" engineering laboratories from all the Marzes of Armenia via video voting.
The winners of the DigiCode received money rewards, mobile phones, as well as opportunities to participate at different trainings and technological camps. The general partner of the DigiCode is the Enterprise Incubator Foundation, the partner is the Huawei.
