"Hawk 2021" UAV contest
September 4, Rescuer Day, was an open day for journalists and the participants of the "Hawk 2021" first UAV contest in Armenia at the UAV airport after Karen Vardanyan, which is under construction in Lernapat village. 30 teams will compete in the "Hawk 2021" UAV competition that will take place on September 18 in the territory of the airport.
The aim of the competition is to get solutions from the participants to increase the effectiveness of emergency rescue measures by means of unmanned aerial vehicles.
The competition will be held in three categories: student groups; amateur groups and start-up companies; specialized companies. Taking into account these groups, the problems will be simple, medium, and complex. Among 30 teams there are 16 student groups, 11 amateur, and 3 professional teams.
The groups will be faced with three tasks: finding the source of the fire, finding the victim, delivering the survival package, and spreading liquid substances. Solving such problems can significantly improve the efficiency of the rescuer and the first responder.
The competition is implemented within the framework of the EU Horizon 2020 "ResponDrone" program, which aims to develop and implement a situation awareness system in emergencies, as well as to provide the necessary information and communication services to the first responder.
The organizers of the competition are the Karen Vardanyan Educational Foundation, the RA Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES), the RA Ministry of High-Tech Industry, the American University of Armenia (AUA), and the Union of Advanced Technology Enterprises (UATE).
