The Union of Advanced Technology Enterprises symbolically summed up the process of setting up the «Armath» engineering laboratories in all schools of Shirak marz.
On December 6, the opening ceremony of the next «Armath» laboratory has been held at Gyumri School N19, where the opening of 117 new engineering laboratories in the Shirak marz has been announced. The next day, on December 7, the whole process of installation has been completed. Thus, all the schools in Gyumri have been equipped with «Armath» laboratories.
The Shirak Marz (region) governor Tigran Petrosyan, representatives of the Shirak marz education department and the Union of Advanced Technology Enterprises have attended the event.
In his speech, the Shirak marz Governor Tigran Petrosyan congratulated the schoolchildren on the achievement and stressed the importance of such initiatives.
«The opening of «Armath» laboratories is a very important step for us, as the implementation of the program enables our schoolchildren to get acquainted with advanced and innovative technologies and acquire engineering skills,"- the governor noted.
Sedrak Vardanyan, the «Armath» program leader and Artak Martirosyan, the school Director, has also delivered congratulatory remarks.
«There is a study that about 12 percent of Armath students are future startup founders. There are also students who set up their own "business" in the schools and serve the community thanks to the knowledge gained in the groups. Students can also develop and sell their projects in the future as well», said Sofia Harutyunyan, who also noted that all the Armath lab leaders are local specialists thus solving the problem of young people workplace.
In total, the province has about 140 "Armath" engineering laboratories, 117 of which have been recently opened. Engineering laboratories are designed for 10-18-year-old children. There may be up to 18 children in one group, but depending on the number of children, schools may have more than one laboratory. According to the plan, only schools with less than 33 students will not be set up with engineering laboratories. There are 8 similar schools in the Shirak region.
Since this year the project has been implemented with the support of the Government of the Republic of Armenia. In July 2019, the Government of Armenia has allocated AMD 834 million for the setting up Armath engineering laboratories. By the end of 2019, besides the Shirak marz, the marzes of Lori and Tavush will also be equipped with laboratories. By the end of 2020, there will be «Armath» engineering laboratories in all the schools of Armenia and Artsakh.
It is worth reminding that the program of the establishment of «Armath» engineering laboratories has been initiated and implemented by the UATE. Currently, there are about 400 «Armath» engineering laboratories operating in Armenia, Artsakh and Georgia, where thousands of children receive free engineering education.
